[1:44:57 - 1:45:04] involved in talking
Gorbachev to step back out of the Cold War. Our, the Jesuit office was, we were
[1:45:04 - 1:45:12] actually in direct communication with
Gorbachev. Uh, and uh, it was, I should probably tell you the story.
[1:52:44 - 1:52:53] long. He said, who you need to be is
Gorbachev.
Gorbachev, who is KGB, he is the, uh, KGB protege of
[1:52:58 - 1:53:04] In the party. And so Jim sets up a meeting to, uh, to meet with
Gorbachev when he's still,
[1:53:04 - 1:53:12] and this is like 1980, 81, right? And so he goes to the Kremlin to meet
Gorbachev. And, uh, they,
[1:53:32 - 1:53:36] income is
Gorbachev. And we sit down and I start telling him about, you know, my name is Jim
[1:53:44 - 1:53:51] respond to this and
Gorbachev who will talk English and private, but he won't talk publicly. But
[1:54:30 - 1:54:34] When I start doing this, he said, so you have to agree to become the president of the
Gorbachev [1:54:41 - 1:54:47] And so that's how Jim Garrison became the president of the
Gorbachev Foundation. My best friend
[1:54:51 - 1:54:56] and of course they did. They came for, people who remember this
Gorbachev got kidnapped.
[1:55:06 - 1:55:13] them release him. And then Yeltsin ran for president and won. And then
Gorbachev and Jim Garrison
[1:55:19 - 1:55:26] at the end of the Cold War because the
Gorbachev before he was leaving, he was going to sign this
[1:57:52 - 1:57:58] against this saying, this is an absolutely wrong response to the step back that
Gorbachev has done.
